Monster Users: Change Your Password

by Kerry Scott on January 26, 2009

Monster’s database has been hacked again.  Apparently, usernames, passwords, contact information, and some demographic information has been stolen.

You can read more about this from PC World and from Monster itself.

It’s probably a good idea to change your password if you have a Monster account.  You should NEVER use the same password for your job search sites that you do for your email, online banking, etc.

There’s also no good reason to enter your race, birth date, gender, street address, etc. when you register for a job site.  The only information that will actually help employers find and contact you is your city/state/ZIP, phone number, and email address.

Monster’s been hit a few times with this sort of thing, but really, this could happen on any site.  A little caution goes a long way.

Good’ole Monster. You would think that them, amongst all the others, would have better security and firwalls in place.
