I've on occasion emailed links to my resume, and here's why. I'm in the design industry, and the aesthetic of my resume is really, really important. When I was hired for the job I have now - which actually isn't even related to design - they actually said to me, "We said, 'Well, we have to interview her, her resume looks really good!'" And they meant aesthetically, not content (although clearly they liked that part too!). I also won a really great internship - again initiated because the aesthetic of my resume fit in so well with their style. In fact, in EVERY interview I've had since finalizing it, they comment on it. Anyway, when I respond to ads on Craigslist, they have a size cap for attachments on the CL-generated email addresses, and the .pdf of my resume exceeds that (and trust me, I tried to make it smaller in kb size but the quality was sacrificed too much). So I use my judgment about what's most important for the job, and consider if the risk of bugging them is worth it, which, for some jobs, they understand that on occasion, it's okay to sacrifice a little, temporary bit of function for form.

But in any case, my link goes directly to the resume, and that guy sounds cluefree!
