The press release is for intimidation. Why else would they do it, other than to pre-emptively ruin her reputation (hmmm...sounds like a counter-suit may be in the making...)

Gah. I hate staffing firms. I'd say no offense to anyone in the biz except, well, I do mean offense, staffing firms are (or maybe can be) evil.

Exactly. Vindictive people creep me out, especially when they devote so much time/energy/money to their cause.

Maybe I'm just lazy, but I don't have the energy to be that pissed off for any length of time.

This reminds me of a business and their employee, a manager, that I used to deal with years ago. Keep in mind this was well before the internet.

I used to take my car to a place for regular maintenance such as oil changes, tune-ups, etc. Then one day I received a letter (via the only type of mail back then - snail mail) that was from this employee/manager. In this letter he basically stated that he was working for a new place (a competitor to his old employer just down the road) and that I should "stop on by."

This would have been fine, and I might have checked out the new place except for the fact that he proceeded to "bad mouth" his former employer in the letter. Nothing nasty or anything - just more personal than I needed or wanted to know. I got the feeling that he wasn't so much interested in drumming up new business for his new employer as he was interested in "sticking it" to his former employer. Sort of a I'll-show-them mentality. He came across as being - you've used the right word in your post - vindictive.

Needless to say, I did NOT check out the new place and I also stopped going to the old place.

So, yea, what you say or do says more about YOU than it does about the other guy. I think someone at that company may have missed out on this idea.
