My first out of college job, I was asked how my parents felt about my having a career. A few years later, I asked the VP why he had asked that question. I was asked why I wasn’t married. I was 25! Makes me wonder if the implications of a man that question are different than asking a woman.
It was over an informal lunch, and I was already pretty sure I didn’t want the job, so I asked back, “Why are you divorced?”
